We are looking for a Group Financial Controller to manage and improve our clients financial and accounting functions across their 6-luxury family operated hotels in the Lake District providing management information and accounting compliance supported by our small finance team. The role supports the Directors and management team with financial analysis and advice, to inform sound business decisions.

This is a fast moving, dynamic operation requiring an energetic, commercially focussed, Financial Controller, with experience, ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, able to develop the finance team, improve existing reporting systems/control procedures and communicate effectively at all levels of the business.

The role encompasses, with the support of the finance team

Management information and accounting compliance

  • preparing the monthly management accounts pack for the individual trading businesses and the company as a whole

  • Supervising company compliance with VAT, payroll and associated statutory obligations

  • Liaising with the company auditors to enable year end compliance

  • Establish connection with all teams to ensure finance play a key role in decision-making.

  • Support all teams by providing transparent information and commentary. Drive financial awareness across the group.

  • Continuously monitor costs, finding areas for improvement

Financial and reporting functions

  • Reporting to both Directors and Operations Manager

  • Have a proactive attitude towards process improvement, initiate actions to improve operational efficiency, highlight need to update internal processes and control across the business.

  • Manage, motivate and develop a team of financial support staff to fulfil the analysis, monitoring and reporting needs

  • Seek opportunities to innovate and drive efficiency within the finance function.

  • Provide rigorous financial oversight to ensure the highest standards of regulatory compliance through robust policies, processes, protocols and authorisations.

  • Assist other teams with resolving financial issues.

  • Other ad hoc duties where appropriate.

About you

  • Experience as a Group Financial Controller

  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified.

  • Experience working within the hospitality industry is desirable.

  • Resilient and able to meet targets in a pressured environment.

  • Good communication skills

  • Capability to work in a fast paced/high change business.

  • Excellent time management skills.
