Our client is looking to recruit a manager for their children's residential home.

Job Purpose

  • Manage the staff and resources of the Home, to provide a positive living experience for the resident young people

  • Ensure that the company consistently provides a high quality of service to its users and remains economically viable

  • Liaise with the Operations Manager and carry out delegated tasks as required •Provide supervision to staff as designated by the Operations Manager

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee, on a day-to-day basis, the care, safety and development of all residents, alongside the management, development and co-ordination of the home and its outreach work.

  • Oversee the implementation of each resident’s Relevant Plans*

  • Ensure that all staff work as a team to achieve positive outcomes for the residents, throughout the placement and in line with the five key outcome targets and quality standards

  • To be responsible for the personal development and training of the staff within the residential home.

  • Assist the Directors in the development and promotion of the company and its services

  • Liaise and co-operate directly with placing social workers.

  • Actively promote equal opportunities for all

Activities

  • Shortlist; interview and recommend for employment or not, potential new employees

  • Oversee the induction of new employees

  • Line manager to the management and staff teams at the Home

  • Ensure a high standard of provision of management, development and co-ordination of the company and its outreach work

  • Ensure that the agreed plans at the Home are implemented

  • Ensure that Company Policies and Strategies are implemented

  • Monitor and review the work practices of all staff in their day-to-day work with the young people, parents, Social Workers, other agencies and the public and those they encounter on outreach work

  • Oversee each area of budgetary spending, ensure that Key Workers are keeping within agreed limits and advise the Directors as to the future financial needs of the Home

  • Identify, in conjunction with senior members of the team, future needs for the development of the home and the services it provides and make proposals for any new work, identifying clearly the personnel, physical and financial resources required

  • Evaluate the company's policies on a regular basis, with the Directors and senior members of the team, propose and manage the implementation of any changes required in service provision

  • Account for any expenditure to the company Directors, especially if monies are spent on items not agreed in advance by the Operational Manager or the Directors

  • Ensure effective use is made of information systems

  • Ensure that all Fire, Health and Safety Procedures are implemented by monitoring and reviewing the procedures

  • Ensure that each member of staff has a personal training and development profile and that both the team and individuals receive adequate training relative to their needs and the needs of the Home

  • Assist the Directors in being responsible for the management of the training

  • Attend training opportunities, as required

  • Provide and record a high quality of formal supervision on a regular basis, to designated staff and ensure that other members of the team are receiving regular supervision of an acceptably high standard

  • Provide formal supervision for other team members, in the absence of a senior member of the team

  • Follow an agreed process for recruiting and endorsing staff appointments.

  • Ensure the development of a programme of regular staff appraisals, making appropriate recommendations and ensuring that the appraisals are carried out

  • Ensure that the reports of any complaints or accidents or incidents that occur in the placement are scanned and sent to Head Office as they happen

  • In the absence of the Manager, ensure that dates of supervision sessions are advised to Head Office and that the relevant supervision notes are typed, signed and scanned to Head Office
